What is a Positive Psychology Practitioner & Life Coach?
In a word? A Mashpiah. A mentor.
Why a Positive Psychology Practitioner & Life Coach vs. a therapist or any other Mashpiah?
A Positive Psychology Practitioner, is a person who has taken Positive Psychology TM courses (the scientific study of human flourishing) to hone their natural skills of guidance and ability to narrow in on what is really at the core of any given issue.
Building on a lifetime of experience as a parent (of 7), a teacher, and a Shlucha, this practitioner has had the ability to draw on two decades of interactions with all age demographics (youth, teens, parents and grandparents). She is able to provide a safe space and private guidance, using the tools of Positive Psychology through the lens of Torah and Chassidus.
Your Mashpiah may be perfect for you!
If you have someone to talk to, and they are meeting your emotional needs, then count your blessings and keep that relationship strong.
However, for some people that is not enough. They need specific strategies, interventions, tools and skills, tailored to the needs of the individual. A PPP (Positive Psychology Practitioner) can use the latest science of the brain, plus scientifically proven methods and strategies to help YOU identify where the challenge lies and what YOU can do to resolve them.
A fundamental principle of PP is that through probing questions, an attentive ear and the theories of PP, you will be shown how YOU have the power, the ability the strength and the self-efficacy to overcome your challenge.
A therapist is a clinician, a doctor. Many of them are truly excellent and may be perfect for your needs. Generally speaking they focus on the events, traumas of the past (or the present) and work from there to fix the present.
A PPP by contrast helps by asking what’s next, and where to from here, rather than what happened in the past. Of course one needs to discuss the entire picture, but PP believes that while everyone has the tools within themselves to flourish, they sometimes cannot see it or access it. A PPP will share tools that will help YOU find your inner awesome.
DISCLAIMER: There are times when a licensed medical professional is needed, and medications may be necessary. A PPP will be honest with you and guide you in that direction if necessary. Having said this, PP is often an excellent complimentary form of self-help or therapy to those taking medication.

Is Positive Psychology Coaching a fit for me?
Do any of the following describe you?
PERSONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT FOR ADULTS AND TEENS
- I am looking to find more happiness and fulfillment in my life
- I want to be able to be able to live in the moment joyfully, (and not constantly looking for the next “fun” thing to keep me going)
- I find that I am distracting myself with movies or other distracting things to hide my feelings of unhappiness or worry
- I want to live without worrying excessively about small or large things
- I want to live more “in the present” and not worry about the future (how will I support my family after I finish the system)
- I need guidance, creating realistic goals to succeed with weight issues/anger issues/self care, etc.
- I want to learn tools to live for myself rather than doing things for other people’s approval. I no longer want to think excessively about what others think or say about me
- I want to build my self-efficacy & my self-confidence
- I want tools to be able to see my goals through till the end. (I find myself starting many projects but I am not seeing them through to completion)
- I want to learn to communicate effectively with parents or friends
- I want to learn skills to improve my organization and time management skills
- I want to find the courage to finally chase those unfulfilled dreams
MARRIAGE AND PARENTING
- I want to better (enhance) my marriage (my marriage often feels like it is on auto-pilot, lacking depth and connection)
- I want to parent joyfully and not resent the burden of raising my children
- I want to learn skills to better care for myself, so I don’t feel perpetually exhausted and frustrated
- I want to learn how to manage my feelings and emotions resulting from a child choosing a different religious/frumkeit path than my own.
- I want to learn how to balance or resolve my spouse and my own differing parenting styles
- I want to learn skills to balance my being a good parent and a good spouse (and caring for my elderly parents)
